The War Ministry

The War Ministry is the department of state responsible for the armed forces of Schwartzistan, for the annual reckoning of the Annual War Appropriation before the Assembly, and for the observance of Victory Day. It has kept its seat in Vellmar, in The Capital District, since its founding on 9 March 1811, a span of 215 years. The office of Minister of War has been held by sixty-one persons in that time; the office of Commander of the Line, held concurrently with the ministry since 2023, is held at present by Tim Palel. The Ministry maintains an official site at /war/ and is listed on the government portal at /gov/ministry/war-ministry/.

The record before 1825 is silent. The office has changed hands sixty-one times since its founding, twice within a single year (1853, and again on the death of Ottmar Braktalel's successor in 1891–92), and the surname Brenn recurs so often across the ministry's lists that no single explanation for it appears in the record. The Commander of the Line, a subordinate military office reporting to the Minister, was created within living memory and has been held only by Tim Palel since 4 February 2023.
